With the SharePoint project portal, you can assign permissions to the SharePoint sites you create, and then assign permissions to the site content. To manage site permissions, follow these steps:
Go to your project portal site.
Go to Settings > Site Administration
a) During project, the project management site should only have the project portal owner and those users delegated permission to access the portal. For example, for a project for a company, the portal owner should only be the company name and not the users. For PMO portal, the PMO portal owner will be the PMO team, for example, executives and managers.
d) You can also add the project portal owner and the project portal users to a specific group. This way those users can access the portal and the project information together in one portal. It’s a good idea to create a new group as the project portal owner to manage the access rights for the portal and the project information.
c) You need to also define a set of users who can access the project information. For example, project managers, project resource owners, and so on. Typically those users will belong to the PMO team. However, you can also create project portal users with full control to the project information and assigned permissions to access the portal.
f) For the project portal, you can also set the permissions to the project information to only the project portal owner, project portal user, and the project resource owner group. This will give you more control of the portal content without giving access to the full portal to the project portal owner.
e) You can also assign permissions to the project portal users specifically. This will give you more control to the portal content. For example, one of the project portal users can access only the project list on that specific project.
